Introductory Alpaca Workshops:

Based on our 29 years of ongoing commitment and experience, we provide informative and 'hands on' workshops which are catered for interested, new and upcoming breeders.
Topics covered will include:
Animal management (Module 1) 3 Hours - Cost $240
- Health, including pasture management and supplementary feeding
- General husbandry from annual shearing, to parasite monitoring and management.
- Care of the expectant dam
- The birthing process
- Care of the new cria and dam
- The Weaner and introduction to halter training
- Reproduction management - understanding overview
Farm management (Module 2) 3 Hours - Cost $240
- Shed/Yard/laneway and paddock layoutsFencing
- Watering points and shelter belt plantings
- Speciality shed usage: Shearing/embryo transfer/classing
Other topics: (Included in above Modules, dependent on individual participant requirements)
- Record keeping and the importance of observation
- Show preparation for your alpacas
- Fleece preparation for your fleeces
- Fleece preparation for manufacturing
- Check list for buying alpacas
Presenters
The program for each day will be hands on practical training with US Judge and SRS trained breeder, Janie Hicks & Dr. Ian Davison, both foundation members of the Australian Alpaca Association since 1992 and breeders since 1988. Ian served as President of the AAA 2008/2010.

Farm days: Join us for the day and participate in the daily activity of a fully operational alpaca farm and see it from both the aspect of the farmer, with the alpacas in the paddock to the fashion retailer with garments made from the alpacas you have seen that day.
